Most countries in the world have an average marriage age between 24 and 30 years old. However, most Europeans, including Germany, France, Italy, Belgium and Malta usually marry at later age, which is about 32-35 years old. When it comes to the U.S., most Americans are ready for marriage at the age of 28-30.
There are few African countries, where people traditionally marry at 22-24 years old. Moreover, some countries allow marrying under the age of 21 (with an obligatory parental approval). For example, in Iran girls can legally marry if they are over the age of 9. Furthermore, early marriages remain to be a common practice there.
Globally, the minimum age for marriage is 16 for girls and 17 for boys. In U.S. (state of Massachusetts) girls are allowed to marry at the age of 12, but in exceptional circumstances. It is also worth mentioning that although many countries have low minimum age for legal marriages, they still have a low number of marriages under 18s.
What is the best age to get married?
It depends on your feelings and maturity only. Some people are emotionally ready to create a family in their 20s, while the others still prefer to be single in 40s. That is why there is no perfect age for settling down.
